Seriously? Banning Social Media for Under-16s?

The federal government’s latest move is a law that will ban everyone under 16 from using social media. Yep, you read that right - they actually want to block young Australians from the platforms where they connect, learn, and express themselves.

Social media isn’t some luxury - it’s part of how we all stay in touch, share ideas, and explore the world. Taking that away isn’t just outdated; it’s out of touch. Politicians in Canberra don’t know your life, and they certainly shouldn’t be telling young people how and where they’re allowed to communicate online.

We believe it’s up to parents - not the government - to guide how young people use the internet. This ban ignores the reality of our digital world, and it treats young Australians as if they’re incapable of responsible online behaviour.

Join us in telling the government: “Hands off our social media!” Sign our petition to stop this heavy-handed legislation and protect everyone’s right to connect, create, and communicate.

Petition: Keep Parenting Decisions with Parents, Not Politicians

We, the undersigned, urge the federal government to respect parents’ rights to decide how their children use the internet. Banning social media for under-16s is overreach—families, not politicians, should make these choices.

Social media is part of modern life, and it’s up to parents to guide their kids’ online experiences. Keep government out of parenting decisions and protect our freedom to choose.
